FAT OR FICTION?
All fats will make you fat? FALSE...

Hold on a sec…There really are GOOD fats and BAD fats. So, which are which?
Here’s the low down on fats:
Saturated Fats (USE IN MODERATION): Usually come from animal fats or are manufactured by the food industry otherwise known as hydrogenated oil. In these fats every carbon atom is completely saturated with hydrogen. These fats cause free radical damage to your cells, clog your arteries, and raise your cholesterol. Saturated fats are solid at room temperature, like the fats you see in meats, cheese, and butter.
Trans-saturated Fats (VERY BAD): These fats are strictly a science experiment. They do not occur in nature. Margarine is a great example. They are very harmful inside the body. These fats block your cells’ ability to absorb fatty acids (bad) and should be avoided at all costs.
Unsaturated Fat (VERY BAD): These fats are found in most oils like corn, safflower, soy, and other vegetable oils. They are called unsaturated because the carbon atoms are empty – they don’t contain hydrogen, but when heated (as in cooking), they become oxidized creating free radicals (bad). They can lead to issues like heart disease and cancer.
Mono-unsaturated Fats (VERY GOOD): Such as Olive Oil and avocados are actually good for you. They contain the fatty acid Oleic Acid which is beneficial to the body.
Omega 3 Fatty Acids (VERY VERY GOOD): Are unsaturated and very beneficial to your health. They are in a category of their own. They can be found in oily fish such as salmon, mackerel, and sardines. If you don’t get enough Omega 3s in your diet, you may find yourself suffering from allergies, inflammation, and dry skin. Over time, a deficiency of Omega 3s can lead to a number of serious autoimmune diseases.
Fish Oils are essential to good health. Research has shown that taking the correct dosages can prevent cancer growth and help control diseases like asthma, MS, depression, Rheumatoid Arthritis, ADHD, chronic obesity, and many others that originate from silent inflammation in the body. Consider taking an Omega 3 Fish Oil supplement daily. Just remember to take them with your largest meal of the day. Otherwise they have been known to “repeat” on some people. Not attractive.
